Yog Nidra is conscious sleep, when mind is at zero thought state. One remains conscious of the surroundings during that time. It is normal to fall into deep sleep from Yog Nidra because the body might need to recover. It is not necessary that you will arrive at Yog Nidra only after step 3 of NV Swimming. You might experience Intermittent Yog Nidra too, wherein you would have breif moments of thoughtlessness between the end of one loop of thoughts and the beginning of another one. With practice, as the mind gets purified, your ability to arrive at Yog Nidra will become effortless.
