Mind is a cultivated phenomenon. Since childhood, it is being shaped to survive. As a child you wanted to play but your father wanted you to study so you can survive and be on your own when you grow up. This is how our mind is cultivated for survival by suppressing expression of the spirit which wants to be in bliss, playing with friends. 
Therefore, mind has no mind of its own except for its purpose to make you survive. Whatever is your definition of survival, it makes you survive by regulating, suppressing, transmuting or expressing an emotion. Emotions are language of spirit. In other words, all your thoughts are for your survival.  

Mental health is fussy

Report:  Two kinds of people have this mind type: 

 

Strong survivor

In a strong survivor we will find a tendency of disrespect to emotional aspects of life. To avoid feeling emotions, they would cultivate a strong mind. They aspire for a better quality of life in terms of success with money, career, lifestyle and materialism. You may often find them leading a very monotonous life and being emotionally numb. When such a mind does not have the need to survive (retirement or when success is attained as per set yardstick), faces acute inner void. Another common trait is that they constantly keep planning ahead of time to avoid reaching a stage of acute void. Therefore, such a mind has high risk of attracting disease. Such a mind shall already have issues with sleep, and breath shall be shallow. Hence, they tend to age faster. Unless backed by a healthy lifestyle where emotions are let out on regular basis such as having a partner in which you ground all your fears and insecurities. Or pursuing some art form to express the spirit or doing something for humanity selflessly. These are means to transmute and release held up emotions so that mind does not have to work extra hard to keep them under control. 

Artist:

This is less likely but a part of this type of mind is reflected in an artist who is effortless at regulating emotions in pursuing the art form for self-expression or even treating it as a career. Such a mind does not have much risk on disease on later stages but has to always be aware of balancing emotions and thoughts. Self-expression vs indulgence and tendency to be eccentric and lost in self which can derail the mental health

Report:  

The difference here compared to a strong mind with you for the same situations and life events, is that you have events of life which have caused you hopelessness. Assuming that you have same strong latent and IQ as strong mind, your attention on need to survive is eroded by hidden hopelessness. Therefore, for same task, strong mind type will go to the height of completing the task, you will drown into emotions and come back to surviving and would only work as much as you can and will either be impacted in productivity, achievements or drag on your energy level for the same given task. 
You are more likely to attract state of distress or already in it. Your hopelessness means you are gradually turning cynical about life and your wellbeing is severely affected impacting joy of living. Your advantage is your curiosity to search for deeper meaning of life. Your best positioning is to take task which are creative in nature than deadlines based, structured life.  
Therefore, you are likely to have two kinds of mind- scattered mind which jumps from one thought to another unless a strong force of survival keeps you there or you continue to find your mind stuck in a loop called OCD. When you release your emotions, that is the only time when your mind is empty to start afresh but that too for a short while. You are prone to an impact on your endocrine gland system causing you, lifestyle disease like thyroid, PCOD, diabetes, sleep and anger disorder. Your breathing shall be jerky and shallow. 

If your score is 10-14:  High

This type of mind has high degree of distress and disorder. Influence of emotions over your mind is high. You struggle on various tasks, and you probably already have a fair degree of depression and your need to survive is fragile. Hopelessness seeps into anything you try to think of or pulling yourself up. External support which used to work for you to somehow survive, is failing to be support now. At any given time, there is more hopelessness than hope within you. Unless you are doing something through the day to release excessive emotions and hopelessness, you shall be struggling going through the routine of the day. You must be shrinking in your definition of survival to manage low energy levels you have. So, if you want to cook 2 dishes for dinner, you cook one which is simple to do. You indulge in self-pity, unworthiness and feel acute loneliness. 
There is a very high chance of having some lifestyle disease such as thyroid, PCOD, auto immune or joint related issues. Your sleep is disrupted and light. It is often full of dreams of strange nature and breath is very shallow. 

Series of disappointments in your life would be a common phenomenon.

While drawing our algorithm, we start with identifying our symptoms. Do we look at our symptoms of today or from our childhood? Our tendencies also seem like they are about today and not from our childhood. How should I interpret this?

You can start with identifying your symptoms today and make your Algorithm identifying your Lack, Tendency and Pattern. It may seem like the tendencies are loud and clear today. This is only because as an adult, you are either more aware of it, or the tendency is more pronounced. However, if you go back to that age group of 7-14, you will find that the same tendency existed back then as well.  

For example – your lack is abandonment and so your tendency is need to prove/ excel. As an adult, you try extremely hard to prove yourself at work, but maybe as a ten-year-old you wanted to make sure that you win a colouring competition or feel worthy by collecting the maximum number of berries or fruits. 

 So, you would notice how the nature of tendency existed even back then – sometimes subtly, sometimes pronounced. It is just a matter of developing sensitivity to recognize it in that time and space. However, you can always work with current scenarios. 

Now that I have made my algorithm and have identified my lack, what do I do with this? Do I have to re-visit my childhood?

In every moment of disappointment – current or past, you can experience the lack. There are two ways to attend to the lack, once identified – 

  1.  You may simply keep your Algorithm/Lack in awareness by writing the events of the current time and go into breathing 
  2. You can revisit your childhood and write about moments that you experienced the Lack/Algorithm and once you have written a few events (in detail), you may lay down and begin to observe your breath. 

In either of the processes, your Algorithm/lack is in your complete awareness and observing your breath after this would only bring an expansion in your awareness. 

After finding my LTP and mapping my algorithm, I can see how I have suffered in my childhood and continue to do so. What can I do to remedy this and reverse my suffering?

 Since you are seeking the cure, you must know that state of meditation is the state of cure. The more you are in this state, the more you move towards light, thus curing your suffering.  

All the things which come into your awareness, must now be attended to by Observing your breath. For process of attending to what has surfaced, refer to Ques no 8
